SUMMARY:MDBA Field Trip -- Staten Island Road
DESCRIPTION:December is prime time for seeing lots of Sandhill Cranes along Staten Island Road in the Sacramento River Delta. Snow and White-fronted Geese and lots of other waterfowl are also assured. This trip is timed to spend a couple of hours viewing the grazing birds before a hoped for sunset flight of the whole flock from their roosting ponds. This is a must-see annual winter field trip. We will slowly drive the length of Staten Island Road\, and stop at the best road-side location to set up our scopes. \nHike rating: 1 – Easy.
