SUMMARY:MDBA Field Trip -- Pacheco Marsh
DESCRIPTION:Pacheco Marsh is a wetland along the Carquinez Strait\, east of Martinez\, that has been restored by the John Muir Land Trust and recently opened to the public. JMLT is giving us early access\, at 8 AM\, to facilitate the best birding. We’ll meet at the parking lot\, where there are rest rooms\, and walk the flat 2-mile loop trail out through the wetland to the open water. \nAfter Pacheco Marsh\, we may make an optional second stop at the MVSD viewing platform at McNabney Marsh. \nIt can get breezy and foggy here so bring appropriate layers. \nHike Rating: 2 – Flat\, easy loop walk of about 2 miles. DESCRIPTION:North Briones\nTuesday April 4\, 8:30 – Noon \nThis walk begins in oak woodlands with lots of spring wildflowers and birds. We then continue through grasslands ending at Sindicich Lagoons. We return the way we came\, making about a 3 miles round trip with some climbing. Bring liquids & a snack if you wish. \nRating: Category 3 – uphill climb\nElevation change: 300+ feet\nLeader: Cheryl Abel\, 925-957-6229\nMeet: Top of Briones Rd. \nDirections: Meet 8:30 AM in the parking area at the north entrance of Briones Regional Park. Take Briones Road off Alhambra Valley Road and drive up this narrow\, winding road\, park at the end. \nThe field trip is limited to 15 participants.
