DESCRIPTION:This trip includes forest birds on the ridge and ducks\, shorebirds and often loons and grebes on the ocean. Tule Elk are often seen. Carpool leaves at 7:00 am from El Nido Ranch Road. Meet at 8:30am at the Bear Valley Visitor Center\, Point Reyes National Seashore. Take SR 24 to Oakland\, then I-580 west to Richmond and the San Rafael Bridge. From US 101 north\, take the Lucas Valley Road exit. Turn left and drive toward Nicasio and continue to Pt. Reyes-Petauma Road. Turn right across the painted bridge and then left on Hwy 1 into Pt. Reyes Station. After a short stop at the Bovine Bakery\, continue toward Olema\, turn right onto Bear Valley Road and left to the Visitor Center. Bring lunch and a beverage. DESCRIPTION:Join the search for migrating raptors and learn about banding efforts and raptor counts by Golden Gate Raptor Observatory (GGRO) docents! We will bird the lagoons before going up to the hawk watch site. At noon the staff gives a talk on their work and may demonstrate the actual banding. Carpool leaves El Nido Ranch Road at 8:00 AM. Meet in parking lot by upper Rodeo Lagoon at 9:00 AM. If driver knows San Francisco\, use Fremont St/ Columbus Ave/Marina/Golden Gate Bridge\, pass the Vista Point and take the Alexander Avenue exit. Turn right at the bottom of the exit and then left onto Bunker Road. Pass through the tunnel and continue to the parking lot on the right just before the bridge. Carry lunch and liquids. DESCRIPTION:Carpool leaves Sun Valley at 7:30 AM. Meet at the Tides Restaurant on water side of Highway 1 in Bodega at 9:15 AM. Take I-680 across the Benicia Bridge (toll). Go west on I-780 to I-80 towards Sacramento\, exit to SR 37. Follow SR 37 to Lakeville Road\, turn right. In Petaluma turn left on E Washington Street and continue on Bodega Road\, Valley Ford Road and SR 1 to Bodega Bay. Walk through or around The Tides to find the group viewing the harbor birds from the outdoor seating. Possibilities at Bodega Bay are flocks of shorebirds including Black Oystercatcher\, Wandering Tattler\, Marbled Godwit\, as well as terns\, gulls\, cormorants\, near-shore pelagics and much more. Bring lunch\, liquids and sunscreen. Category 1.
