MDBA Field Trip — Owl Prowl at Hidden Lakes

An evening walk from Hidden Lakes to Hidden Valley Park and back, to look for owls. We’ll first hike to the eucalyptus grove Hidden Valley Park to try to catch Great Horned Owls dueting. As we make our way back to Hidden Lakes, we’ll keep our eyes and ears out for Barn Owls and other nighttime critters.
The trail is unpaved, dusty, narrow, and steep in a couple of places. Please wear hiking shoes and bring any other hiking equipment you may need.
It will be dark for the majority of the walk, so please bring a headlamp and/or flashlight to navigate, preferably one with red light settings that are easier on animals’ eyes. I have 1 extra red light flashlight.
Trail Rating: 2 – A few stretches of broken ground, or substantially over 1 mile on easy trails
